What an extraordinary handmade wooden kaleidoscopes from artist Steven Gray! The "Squeeze Me" #2015-5 is what is technically known as a polyangular kaleidoscope. Called such as you can change the angle of the mirror system inside, these are among the most unique, changeable kaleidoscopes ever made. To change the angle you simply squeeze the paddle at the side, which effortlessly shifts one of the mirrors inside creating a dramatically different image. In fact, this wood kaleidoscope offers quite a generous range of view, from a 5 point star when fully expanded, to a 16 point star when fully compressed!
The image inside these wooden kaleidoscopes isn't only ever-changing; it is also peaceful, watery, calming and refreshing. With colors that seem to float away at the edges, you can imagine them taking all the worries of the day with them. Beautiful outside as well, this handmade kaleidoscope is crafted from western maple with cherry accents (the eyepiece, paddle and spindle). A clear finish protects the scope while letting the natural grain of the woods shine through.
A high grade acrylic object chamber features hand lampworked glass pieces suspended in oil, with a black acrylic back offering a black background to the interior image. Generously-sized, this handheld wood kaleidoscope offers the appearance of a parlor kaleidoscope when resting in its base, and can be used as such if you wish.
