Spirit of Atlantis #6 of 8 is a Slumped and Stained Glass Kaleidoscope handcrafted by Charles Karadimos. Charles creates the exterior of this kaleidoscope by starting with the handmade stained glass that has deep indigo and cobalts with sea greens and a touch of white. He fuses and slumps this glass into the cone shape. Charles also creates the eyepiece and end of the object chamber from this exquisite stained glass. Charles hand solders the object case, feet and fittings. The object cell contains hand lampworked glass and polished dichroic glass to create incredible intricacy within the images. Charles always adds a touch of black for definition within his chambers. The symmetry is extremely precise in this 9 point star created by the 2 mirror system.
This piece is signed, numbered and dated by Charles by etching into the glass.
Overall height is approximately 10 inches. Diameter at the eyepiece is approximately 1 1/2 inches and diameter at the object chamber is 3 inches.
