Out of Stock Kaleidoscopes Stained Glass Kaleidoscope "Zen" By Artist Sue Rioux Zen is a great name for this beautiful stained and fused glass wheel kaleidoscope handcrafted by Sue Rioux. The primary wheel on this kaleidoscope is all fused or dichroic glass pieces. Sue creates all of her own fused glass so the layering of colors is all carefully chosen by Sue.
The secondary wheel is textured, clear dichroic which adds lots of play to the light. Dichroic glass is stained glass that has a vacuum plated metallic layer added to the surface. Imagine a refractive finish to stained glass.
Sue then decorates the top of the barrel with a large piece of her fused glass and adds Italian glass rods for more embellishment. The clear dichroic exterior has a layer of silver foil underneath to camoflage the mirrors.
Her hand solderwork adds the feet and finishes the eyepiece where you view the wonderful 4 point star. This is a unique mirror system that is tricky to get the symmetry just right. This one does it!
Enjoy a moment of Zen.
Dimensions of the 2 separate turning wheels are 3 1/2 inches in diameter. Overall length of the entire kaleidoscope is approximately 9 1/2 inches long. Eyepiece overall dimensions are 1 5/8 inch wide and 2 1/2 inches from feet to top of the glass rod decoration.
