Unique Gifts, Kaleidoscope, Stained Glass Kaleidoscope, "Luminosity" #55 by Artist Charles Karadimos. Luminosity is a great kaleidoscope full of interesting effects awaiting the viewer. the exterior is made of a highly textured white glass that has been slumped in a kiln to form 2 halves. they are carefully ground and soldered together using age old stained glass techniques. The interior is amazing and really holds my attention as there is a lot going on inside first there is first class flame worked glass pieces all made by Charles and secondly there is some etched glass used that ebbs and flows giving the changing effect of clear images and slightly muted colors in a luminescent color palate. Very interesting if you ask me.
One of my favorite observations about Luminosity is the exterior. It looks and feels as if it is heavy grey clouds. Yet some puffiness with the white. It reminds me of a summer storm sky here in the midwest. Peaceful on the outside and yet there is so much hidden inside. The interior, what appears as orange is really a flame red. The ampules within add tiny little bubbles that just seem to reinforce the energy from the clouds. Once again, a truly extraordinary piece of Charles' craft. Every piece he makes seems to reinforce that he really is at the top of the craft.
Highly recommended.
