Metal Kaleidoscope, "Mr. Squishy" With 2 Wheels By Artist Roy Cohen.
Very Unique kaleidoscope Variable 4 Mirror System.
This unique antique brass kaleidoscope, "Mr. Squishy" has four panels that can be squeezed together to form a square or opened to form a double triangular kaleidoscope. When opened, the double triangular kaleidoscope shows a double focal point inside the kaleidoscope, as seen in the photos below. As the panels are squeezed together to form a square, a four-sided image is multiplied as a square figure. Since there are multiple angles that can be made by squeezing the four metal panels, it is a type of polyangular kaleidoscope, meaning many angles. We sold a version of this kaleidoscope successfully in our shops in the 90s by Israeli designer, Roy Cohen, made with four aqua-colored velvet fabric sides. This metal version is much more durable than the earlier fabric model.
You will see the various views as you turn the two wheels and squeeze the four panels of Mr. Squishy. It is just a lot of fun, and beautiful as well! The two wheels of the kaleidoscope are made of four antique brass circles filled with acrylic objects of bright color. Then the four circles are joined with four angular pieces of the same type colorful, acrylic substance. Roy has combined the four circles and four angular pieces into a many-sided, sculptured wheel which is very pleasing to the eye. (Please see the pictures to enjoy.)
Every collection of kaleidoscope should offer such a unique kaleidoscope which is representative of the rather rare four mirror, but yet polyangular systems. Many other polyangular kaleidoscope are much more expensive than this more affordable version so it’s a good value. It comes with a base stand, which is also made of antique brass to hold the pleasing looking kaleidoscope securely.
Dimensions of the kaleidoscope are
